Manchester Central redevelopment brings a whole new look and feel to the site.....
2009 was a significant year for the venue's extensive £28.5 million redevelopment programme with the completion of the new central Foyer. The foyer has given the venue a brand new look and additional meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 40 to 180. In total, the new look and extended foyer can accommodate up to 2000 people.
Manchester Central is part way through the extensive redevelopment programme and the investment is starting to pay dividends in attracting an increasing number of high profile events to the city.
Harrogate International Centre redevelopment plans met with excitement
News that HIC has received funding for its ongoing development plans has been met with much excitement from the trade and local communities alike in that it will allow the Centre to firmly lead the way in the conferencing and events industry.
The £13 million capital scheme will start in spring 2010 and be completed by autumn 2011. It includes the development of two new event halls totalling 3,400 square metres. Not only does this provide an extra 20% capacity but improved flexibility of hall layouts will also allow multiple events to run alongside each other. The new halls, which will incorporate first-class facilities and the latest in technology, will also be linked to the Centre’s existing conference and exhibition spaces. For example, hall heights will be in the region of six metres, opening up the potential for specialised exhibitions where exhibitors require increased clearance for large machinery and vehicles.
The scheme will also see some important external improvements, including a new and extended entrance to the Springfield House lobby area. Outside, the footway leading to the Centre entrance will be widened and a new outdoor covered piazza-style dining area created. And, in line with Harrogate’s international reputation as a floral town, the footway will be restored as a tree-lined boulevard.
